Cold with sunny spells Friday. Significant snowfall likely over the weekend, especially over hills.
Friday night:Another very cold night with clear spells and a widespread frost. Perhaps the odd wintry shower spreading east overnight, along with some low cloud and isolated mist or fog patches. Lows -4°C.
Saturday:Frosty start, with any early cloud and lingering mist or fog patches gradually clearing. A cold day follows with morning sunny spells soon turning hazy as high cloud spreads north. Highs 4°C.
Rain from the southwest from Saturday evening spreads north and east through the night. This will turn to snow for many areas. Transient at lower levels but accumulating for many areas over 150m.
An AMBER WARNING is in place for significant disruption into the first part of Sunday
Outlook:Cold Sunday with early snow giving significant accumulations over hills, but turning to rain from the south later and easing into the evening. Windy - drifting snow possible over hills.
Staying cold Monday and Tuesday, with sunny spells and isolated snow showers. Risk of ice.
